Day 14

Kratos Power

The word of God grew mightily & prevailed (Acts 19:20)

There are three main Greek words for power in the New Testament. The first is dunamis - an explosive, “dynamite” power (Acts 1:8). The second is exousia - a power based on authority (John 1:12). Dunamis is the policeman’s gun, while exousia is the badge. The third power word is kratos - a societal transforming power (Acts 19:20 - “the word of God grew mightily and pre- vailed”). Dunamis and exousia manifest mostly in meetings, inter- cessory prayer, and in personal ministry. Kratos is an inner atti- tude of faith that holds a family, church, region, or nation in in- creasing blessings (the word “grew”).

Elijah walked in kratos power when his prayer caused a three-year drought. This happened because he practiced a pow- erful prayer truth: what is believed after prayer is just as important as what is believed during prayer. Elijah’s kratos faith continued after the prayer meeting. Romans 16:20 says, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” As we mix God’s word with faith, we will experience growing inner peace. This increasing peace lets us know that the manifestation of Satan’s “crushing” is drawing near. Philippians 4:6,7 also speaks to this. We are com- manded not to worry about anything, but to pray about every- thing with THANKSGIVING. It’s this on-going thanksgiving that helps produce a kratos power - the inner attitude of faith that holds us in increasing blessing. When we water yesterday’s prayers with thanksgiving today, we build up an “Elijah” kind of prayer that avails much.

Declare: I radically thank God for the prayers I prayed yesterday. I am thus growing in peace and kratos power that helps hold my life and others in the increasing blessing of God.
